CSS means Central Superior Service Examination. CSS is consider the biggest exam in Pakistan, which is passed by only a few hundred candidates out of thousands every year. To pass the CSS exam, one has to go through hard work, patience, courage and trials. Which requires tireless work day and night. CSS Exam Procedure and Complete Syllabus Guide
The CSS Exam has the following parts:
- MCQ Test
- Written Test
- Medical Test
- Physical Test
- Viva Test

MPT (MCQ based screening Test)
This is a test that students take before the written long exam. And only those candidates who pass it are eligible to take the written exam. This exam is of 200 marks and it is necessary to get 33% marks in it, which is approximately 66 out of 200.
Eligibility Criteria:
The candidate should have the following relevant degree and qualifications to join CSS Exam:
- The candidate should obtain a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from any institution that the Pakistan Higher Education Department approves and have the degree attested.
- The candidate should not have scored less than a C grade in any examination or failed in any subject, and all degrees should be verified so that he/she does not face any inconvenience on any occasion.
Age Eligibility:
- The minimum age for CSS exam is 21 years and the maximum age is 30 years for general candidates.
- If the candidate is already working in a government department, then there is a relaxation of two years in age, i.e. 32 years.
- Apart from this, the government has also set the age limit for candidates belonging to remote areas of Pakistan that have been exempted at 32 years.

Eligibility of Nationality:
- The candidate must be a national card holder of Pakistan or Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
- A candidate married to a nationality holder of another country is also not eligible for the competitive examination, and a candidate with dual citizenship is also not eligible for the competitive examination.

Examination Fees:
- The fee for the MPT MCQ test was Rs: 250 in 2025.
- The written exam fee for the year 2025 was Rs. 2200.

MPT MCQ CSS Exam In Pakistan Exam Date:
- Advertisement date CSS exam in Pakistan : 10 August 2026
- Application Submit Date: 10th-25th August. (could be)
Written Examination Date:
- Advertisement date CSS exam in Pakistan : 7th December 2026. (could be)
- Application Submit Date: 7th-22th December 2026.
Note: Only those candidates who have passed the MPT exam are eligible for the written exam.
How to apply for CSS exam?
- To appear for the CSS exam, the candidate first has to pay attention to the advertisements in which the date of the MCQ paper is mention.
- Then the fee challan is collect as per the date given in the advertisement.
- A roll number slip is obtain and the initial MCQ paper is given as per the date given in the slip.
- After the initial paper, the date of the written exam is usually in December.
- After giving the initial paper, the candidate can get his roll number slip from the official website of FPSC ten days before the written exam in the form of download.
- When the advertisement for the written exam is given. The candidate can log in to the website through his MPT MCQ paper result card.
- Now the candidate has to get the 2200 fee challan form from the website and after completing it, submit it to any branch of any government bank like State Bank, National Bank along with the FPSC receipt.
- The candidate has to submit the fee challan within ten days of the publication of the advertisement and send his passport size photograph along with the attested copies of all the educational documents to the Secretary PFSC by post so that after verification of the documents. The roll number slip can be issue to the candidate by the due date.
Important things that a CSS candidate should know.
- A candidate can appear for the exam a maximum of three times.
- While the MPT exam is not combine with the CSS exam no matter how many times it is given.
- The MPT exam is only valid for the CSS exam this year.
- The written exam consists of 6 compulsory and 6 optional subjects.
- You can choose the 6 optional subjects yourself.
- Out of the compulsory subjects, 40% marks must be obtained in each subject.
- While only 33% marks must be obtained in the optional subjects.
- A candidate is selected after passing the written exam for the medical test, physical test and oral test.
- The candidate can also apply for re-checking of his paper, the fee of which is 500 per paper.

Federal Public Service Commission Important Announcement.
According to the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) document, they will recruit a total of 327 posts in Grade 17 in the federal service, including 191 new and 136 carried over posts from previous years.
Of the total posts, 169 are for open merit (including general merit), 35 for women, and 123 for minorities.
